📖 Part 1: Before The Shield Arrived

Ira Singhania. No, CEO Ira Singhania. The name itself was enough to send shivers down the spines of the corporate employees at Singhania Enterprises. Her aura and her presence alone spoke volumes about her nature. Cold and heartless—that was what people whispered about her in the hallways, and it was accurate to a point. She was intensely professional, practically carrying a neutral, unreadable expression wherever she went. She rarely smiled, unless it was a slight, polite lifting of the corners of her lips out of formal respect; otherwise, her sharp eyes did all the communicating. Anyone who looked into her eyes found her so intimidating that they could rarely hold eye contact for more than three seconds. She never raised her voice; she didn't need to. Everyone feared her authority, her position, and her absolute competence.

Her skills and abilities were a constant point of discussion among the staff, a topic one could easily speak about for hours. To put it simply, her operational efficiency was unmatched, perfectly fitting her designation as CEO of Singhania Enterprises. She could effortlessly manage multiple high-level tasks across various screens at once. Because of this, she was always steps ahead, constantly working on future potential projects for the firm, which ultimately drove the company's profit rates to historic highs.

Initially, she had joined the organization as a standard entry-level employee. Even though the company was controlled by her father, Aakash Singhania, she never claimed any special privilege or bossed anyone around. She simply did her work sincerely, kept her head down, and put in the hours. Her rapid promotions were earned entirely through undeniable talent, and after two whole years of hard work, she was promoted to the CEO position when the place got vacant as her father retired. She achieved that level of success not through nepotism, but sheer dedication. While some of her former colleagues were genuinely happy for her, others were furious and jealous that she had acquired her father's position. Suddenly feeling inferior to her, though Ira remained completely detached from their gossip.

Ira had never been much of a talker, keeping her professional circle incredibly small. Her only true confidante was her colleague, Lily Oberoi, whom she had been best friends with for three years now. However, since Ira's promotion to CEO two years ago, Lily had intentionally distanced herself within the office premises. This change in behaviour wasn't born out of jealousy or hatred; rather, Lily deeply respected Ira's new position and knew that maintaining a casual, informal relationship inside the office could compromise Ira's authority. Thus, they strictly maintained their professional boundaries during working hours, saving their close, uninhibited friendship for the evenings.

After their working hours, they frequently met up, visiting each other's homes or going out together. Throughout their friendship, Lily couldn't help but notice that Ira remained entirely single, showing zero interest in dating. Lily herself was happily committed to Tejas Kapoor, a diligent employee working alongside Lily in the Sales department. Together, Lily and Tejas had recently managed a major project, turning it into an ultimate success for their department.

Lily had tried asking Ira multiple times why she refused to get into a relationship, but every time, Ira offered a clever excuse and escaped the question, keeping her past locked away.

Their ages:

Lily Oberoi - 26 years old

Tejas Kapoor - 27 years old

Abhimanyu Rathore - 28 years old

Ira Singhania - 29 years old
