Chapter-1

The rain tapped steady, rhythmic beats against the floor-to-ceiling windows of the penthouse, mirroring the quickening pace of your heart.

Jungkook sat at his heavy oak desk, the dim glow of a single desk lamp illuminating the sharp line of his jaw and the relaxed, authoritative posture he always held. He wasn't looking at you yetโ€”his eyes were fixed on the tablet in his handsโ€”but you knew better than to move. You remained in your place on the plush rug near his feet, hands folded neatly in your lap, waiting.

Silence in this room wasn't empty; it was heavy, filled with a unspoken understanding.

Finally, the soft click of the tablet screen turning off cut through the quiet. Jungkook set it down, leaned back, and turned his dark gaze toward you. The intensity in his eyes instantly grounded you, washing away the chatter of the outside world.

"You've been very patient tonight," Jungkook said softly, his deep voice carrying a calm, low resonance that sent a gentle shiver down your spine. "Come here."

You shifted carefully, moving onto your knees and shuffling closer until you were resting right beside his chair. You kept your gaze lowered slightly, an instinctive gesture of trust and yield that he always appreciated.

"Eyes on me," he instructed gently.

You raised your head, meeting his gaze. The warmth and control in his expression made it easy to let go of control entirely.

"Tell me how your day was," he murmured, leaning forward to rest his elbows on his knees, bringing himself closer to your level. "Did you take care of yourself like I asked?"

"Yes, Sir," you answered softly, your voice steady despite the flutter in your chest. "I finished everything on my list, took my breaks, and ate lunch."

A slow, proud smile touched the corner of his lips. He reached out, his warm, large hand gently cupping your cheek, his thumb tracing a slow circle over your cheekbone. The touch was firm yet incredibly tender.

"Good girl," he praised, the words carrying a weight that settled deeply inside you. "I know how busy you've been lately. You did well today."

You leaned slightly into his hand, letting out a soft breath you didn't realize you were holding. In his presence, the need to manage everything, to make decisions, to be in charge of your own hectic life simply evaporated. He held the boundary; he kept you safe.

"Sir?" you whispered.

"Hmm?" His fingers trailed down to tilt your chin up slightly.

"Can I just stay here for a bit?"

Jungkook's expression softened even further. He didn't answer with words right away; instead, he stood up, took your hands, and pulled you up with him before sinking into the leather armchair behind him. With a gentle tug, he guided you into his lap.

You wrapped your arms around his shoulders, burying your face in the crook of his neck, inhaling the familiar, comforting scent of cedarwood and rain. His arms wrapped securely around your waist, pulling you flush against him, holding you with an effortless strength.

"You can stay right here as long as you need," Jungkook whispered against your hair, his hand pressing soothing, rhythmic strokes down your back. "I've got you, Y/N."

Safe in his hold, surrounded by his quiet authority and unfailing care, you finally let yourself completely rest.

The quiet in the study deepened, punctuated only by the distant hum of the storm outside and the steady rhythm of Jungkook's breathing. wrapped in his arms, the remaining tension in your shoulders melted away completely.

For several minutes, neither of you spoke. Jungkook simply held you, his large hand continuing its slow, rhythmic strokes down your back, grounding you in the quiet space he created.

"Sir?" you murmured softly, your voice muffled against the crook of his neck.

"Yes?" His voice was a low vibration against your chest, cool and untroubled.

"Thank you."

He paused his hand mid-stroke, leaning back just enough to look down into your eyes. His expression was serious, though his dark eyes held a deep, comforting warmth.

"You don't need to thank me for taking care of you," he said gently, his thumb tracing the curve of your lip. "That's my job. Your only job right now is to let go and rest. Understand?"

"Yes, Sir," you replied, meeting his gaze fully this time.

A quiet sense of approval settled over his features. "Good." He shifted slightly, adjusting your weight in his lap so you were nestled even more comfortably against him. "Now, have you been overthinking again today? I know how your mind gets when work gets busy."

You bit your lip hesitation creeping in, but the steady, unyielding look in his eyes made it impossible to hide the truth.

"A little," you admitted softly. "I felt overwhelmed this afternoon... like I wasn't keeping up."

Jungkook's brow furrowed slightly, a firm boundary immediately drawn. "What did we talk about regarding those thoughts?"

"That they're just noise," you whispered, lowering your gaze slightly. "And that I'm supposed to bring them to you instead of carrying them alone."

"Exactly," he said, his chin resting against the top of your head as his arms tightened comfortably around you. "You don't have to bear the weight of everything, Y/N. When it gets too heavy, you hand it over to me. That is why we're here. That is why you trust me."

The simple absolute certainty in his tone acted like an anchor. You nodded against his shoulder, feeling a profound sense of relief wash over you.

"Look at me," he commanded softly.

You lifted your head, looking into his steady, dark eyes.

"You did remarkably well today," Jungkook said, his voice quiet, deliberate, and full of unspoken pride. "I'm very proud of you."

Those few words were all it took to quiet every lingering doubt in your mind. You rested your head back against his shoulder, letting his strength hold you entirely as the rain continued to fall outside, completely safe in his care.
